| 08 Jun 2000 Time: 14:23:59 From: Rick In the June Newsletter there was an article about the recently formed Planning Committee and their investigations into how we could become landed, with property and facilities that we own. NN members, what are your thoughts and ideas in this regard? Is it a good idea? Do you know of any potential properties or how we could finance the endeavor? If you do not want to leave your thoughts here, please contact Pete, per the article. He is looking for YOUR input! |
| 29 Jun 2000 Time: 10:34:41 From: Donna I would love to see NN become a landed club. I am very concerned about the funding of such an endeavor, however. At my age, every penny invested in "fun" is carefully weighed against long term retirement planning. It would take a lot of commitment from a lot of people. Alan & I enjoy doing things with the NN members...but participating in club activities (and preparations for same) already involve a pretty large chunk of time. If the club could maintain a status quo (membership of around 200 or less and at least the current swim attendance, it would be a nice group. As it grows, however, other considerations will need to be made. If we don't become landed, a lot of SIG's or sub-groups will inevitably form and the club might lose its friendly aspect. I hope not. This all sounds like a definite maybe...but I'm willing to listen. |
